National Service Scheme राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना
Introduction:
Marathwada ShikshanPrasarak Mandal states its mission as bringing about social transformation through education and creating resources and utilizing them for educational upliftment of common people. The institute strives to realize the mission by organizing various extension activities for cultivation of democratic and human values. It also organizes activities for the transfer knowledge and skills for fulfillment of changing needs of rural society in the process of modernization. Since its establishment in 1970, National Service Schene (NSS) has served as the main organ for carrying out the extension activities. Later, in the year 19??, NCC joined the fray and added an extra edge to the extensive activities. Side by side the Departments too planned and executed the activities.
Scope
The various academic departments, service units, associations, cells and committees may plan and organize extension activities in order to sensitize stakeholders towards community issues, gender disparities, social inequity and for inculcating values. While conducting the activities these agencies may keep the vision and mission of the institute to the forefront.
Objectives
To develop student sensitivity towards the community
To organize activities addressing the gender equity and gender disparity issues
To acquaint students with the community life and issues
To facilitate college-society network for seeking mutual learning benefits
To educate students by putting theory into contexts
To sensitize students about the socio-economic realities.
To undertake environment related awareness programmes
To conduct socio-economic surveys
To collaborate with relevant NGOs and agencies for carrying extension activities
Extension and outreach Policy:
- The Academic Departments and Service Units like NSS, NCC and Schemes would identify the thrust areas for carrying out the extension and outreach activities.
- The Academic Departments and Service Units will coordinate extension and outreach activities and deploy the institutional expertise for the execution of the activities.
- The Academic Departments and Service Units will identify and collaborate with the NGOs, Private Players, Govt. Offices and Institutions in order to carry out extension and outreach activities
- The institute will grant appropriate financial budget in consultation with the collaborator and grant administrative and financial approval.
- The institute will give preference to the activities that are in tune with the vision and mission of the institute.
- The institute will undertake such initiatives that are mutually beneficial for the society as well as the institute in terms of its learning quality.
- The institute will try to involve students, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets etc. in order to serve the society at the time of distress.
- The institute will lay emphasis on awareness generation activities.
- The institute will undertake environment promotion, health and hygiene, rural development initiatives periodically.
- All the activities will be documented and by the concerned Department and IQAC and the reports would be available on the college website.
