Today, in addition, there is an optional programme in English. The major focus of the department is to develop English communication skills of the rural deprived students.

The department provides our students with an education of the highest quality in world literature and cultural studies.
We look to have our students become independent, self-motivated learners, confident in their research and synthesizing skills; we encourage students from diverse backgrounds, minority and deprived rural students to become a part of the main stream through proper communication skills and efforts are carried out to develop their learning abilities.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
(Nelson Mandela)
Education is a continuous process of not only of personal development but with this powerful weapon we can change the world around us. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant, Tapsya Parihar whose village population is only 800, nailed UPSC examination, that the son of poor auto driver and field worker, Ansar Shaikh could become the youngest IAS officer of our country, a daughter of a poor farmer becomes a doctor. There are many examples who were marginalised, unprivileged and were from far remote villages where basic amenity was a distant dream. But they became successful not because they were poor but they used their adverse plight as a flame to fight the darkness of adversities. The sad plight became fuel to achieve laureates. I urge all students take advantage of your adverse situation and focus on your goal because this period is a golden opportunity in your life to achieve success. So, act in the present and be like a lighthouse, be an example for others because you have the ability to change the world! Vinayakrao Patil Mahavidyalaya has students from Vaijapur city and adjoining villages who are distinguished culturally and socially but one common thread which binds them together is their economical conditions. Since its establishment in 1968, the Department of English has emerged as a centre for learning English Language and Literature. The aim of English department is to develop their communication skills, to boost their confidence to inculcate on their minds that poor economic background is not a hindrance in achieving the success. The department provides extensive support and comprehensive resources for our students. We welcome you to the English Department as undergraduate or post graduate or research student and we hope to be part of your success.
