The Department of Commerce is one of the major departments of this college. Department of Commerce was established in June 1968 with Mr. S. A. Somwanshi as the first head of department. Department is offering both UG (B.Com.) and PG (M.Com.) courses. Department is also having Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University recognized Research Centre. Department of Commerce is having a good track record of admissions, results as well as placement. Student strength of the department reached to 569 in 2020-21. The department, keeping in view the changing needs, has been organizing workshops and seminars for the benefit of teaching fraternity and students.

- Equip and encourage them to start their own ventures in urban or rural areas benefitting both the classes and masses.

Achievements:
- The department has organized one National Level Conference on Impact of LPG on Socio-Economic Development in India.
- The department has organized four regional level workshops for the faculties of Commerce and Management.
- One ongoing Faculty Research Project under UGC Scheme STRIDE – I.
- The department has organized Three Days Hands-on Training on SPSS Software during 21st to 23rd February 2022for the faculties and research students.
- The department has organized two Entrepreneurship Workshops for the students.
- The department has also conducted Certificate Course in Computerized Accounting from 24th January 2022 to 26th February 2022.
- One faculty member, Dr. K. P. Bholane has received Best Programme Officer Appreciation Certificate Award of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad for the academic year 2018-19 and 2019-20.
HOD’s Message
Dear students, welcome to the Department of Commerce. Commerce is such a subject which has its application in any type of business. In commerce, there is a variety of subjects like accounting, taxation, auditing, financial management, human resource management, banking, insurance etc. It’s importance can be underlined as the application of commerce starts with the opening of business till the winding of business. Without commerce, business operations are not possible. For smooth functioning of the business, commerce is essential. Department is continuously working for the excellence in education, research and extension activities and thus thereby contributing indirectly for the betterment of the society. Department has organized one national conference and four regional workshops on teaching, learning, evaluation and research. Consumer Awareness Programme and Entrepreneurship Development Programme are the innovative practices of the department. Department also organized industrial visits for the students to give them practical exposure. Remedial classes are conducted successfully for the academic betterment of the students.
The main objectives of the department are:
- To impart quality and need based higher education in Commerce.
- To make the students aware about the recent development in the subject.
- To undertake extension and consultancy activities.
- To adopt latest educational technology such as Google Classroom, ZOOM, Testmoz etc.
- To inculcate entrepreneurial skills among the students.
- To improve soft skills to bring about balanced personality development of the learners.
- To inculcates a sense of civic responsibility, social commitment, and moral accountability among the students.
